Identity Change

"So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus."

ROMANS 6:11

The specific call of Jesus is to lay down your way of life for him. That understanding is the opposite of what we are taught everyday in this world, which is to preserve self. The Lord does not ask you to physically die for him - he died for you. It is about learning to live each day - in each moment - allowing the Holy Spirit to live through you regardless of circumstance. The difficult task is learning and practicing to suppress your natural born feelings of hurt - shame - jealousy - in favor of kindness - love and encouragement through the Holy Spirit.

It is in his death that we have life and only because of this truth. The perfect spirit that lived in Jesus during his life was given to our heavenly father on the cross so that you too will have access to our father in heaven. This is the truth. He rose again because the spirit of God lives eternally and cannot ever be snuffed out. This is true in you also as you seek the life of Jesus in you.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.” John 10:11

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” Matthew 10:39

“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” Romans 8:11
