“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”
Genesis 5:24 (NIV)
The brief account of Enoch in Scripture reveals a profound truth: the greatest calling in life is to walk with God. Enoch is not remembered for worldly achievements, wealth, or influence. He is remembered because he walked faithfully with the Lord. His life demonstrates that intimacy with God is far more valuable than any earthly accomplishment.
God calls people according to His purposes, not according to human qualifications. Throughout Scripture, the Lord often chose ordinary individuals and accomplished extraordinary things through them. The common thread was not their ability but their willingness to trust, obey, and follow Him. God's power is revealed most clearly through hearts that are fully surrendered to His will.
The Christian life is more than believing certain truths about Jesus—it is learning to walk with Him daily. Walking with God involves prayer, obedience, trust, and continual dependence upon His guidance. It means allowing the Lord to shape our thoughts, direct our decisions, and lead us into the purposes He has prepared for us.
Like Abraham, believers are often called to trust God without knowing every detail of the journey ahead. Faith is demonstrated by obedience even when the destination is unclear. As Christians follow the Lord step by step, they discover that His plans are always wiser, greater, and more meaningful than anything they could create for themselves.
God also reminds His people that they are His workmanship, created for a purpose. Every believer has been uniquely designed and gifted to participate in God's kingdom work. While the assignments may differ, the calling is the same: to glorify God, love others, and faithfully follow Christ wherever He leads.
Today, focus less on what you can accomplish and more on walking closely with the Lord. The greatest success is not found in recognition or achievement but in faithfulness to God. As you walk with Him, trust that He will guide your steps and accomplish His purposes through your life.
