The New Life Will Be Different
Share
"Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses."
1 TIMOTHY 6:12
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He, when known is often talked about as life and the truth, many people know his name - yet walk not in his way. Jesus is the Lord - and the way he showed to live is the way.
Jesus came such that we would seek his way - his life. He came as the word of God - to be the word of God - to be our King - Savior and advocate. He came such that we may live with him - for him. He revealed the truth of God and the Spirit. Jesus is the way.
The purpose of accepting Jesus and being baptized in his name - is to be set free and then do his will -to receive the Holy Spirit and live a new life centered on him - the life he has prepared in advance for you - being baptized is a re-birth to a new life. It is not to go back to doing exactly what you were doing before you knew Jesus. Where then is the evidence of a new life?
The idea of a purposeful life and the reason for which most people live is misguided. Jesus lived by faith. The original disciples walked and witnessed Jesus for a period of time before he walked to the cross - but before Jesus found them and asked them to follow him - they had other jobs and other activities in which they passed time each day, as it is today. Jesus lives and he is alive today as he was then. He is in heaven as the Father is in heaven - but his Holy Spirit is here - so he is here as well. As he did the works of his Father in heaven here on earth - so shall we do the works of Jesus on earth as he is in heaven - in the same way - with the same power - guided by the same spirit. This is the truth of the Way of King Jesus.
"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." John 14:12-14
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
