The Proper Order

The Proper Order

“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.”
John 5:21-23 (NIV)

The Christian life begins with recognizing the proper order of things: God is Lord, and we are His people. Jesus Christ is not merely a teacher to admire or an example to follow—He is the Son of God, the giver of life, and the one entrusted with all authority. When we understand who Jesus is, our response should be one of worship, humility, and faithful obedience.

Jesus calls His followers to take up their cross and follow Him. This daily commitment involves surrendering our own desires, ambitions, and pride so that Christ may be honored through our lives. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we learn that true greatness is found not in self-promotion but in humble service, love, and faithfulness.

Because Jesus alone is the righteous Judge, believers are called to be cautious about judging others. It is easy to become focused on the shortcomings of others while forgetting the grace we ourselves have received. Scripture encourages Christians to extend patience, mercy, and understanding, remembering that every believer is dependent upon God's grace.

Salvation is not earned through good works or personal achievement. It is a gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, believers are forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God's family. This truth should produce gratitude, humility, and compassion toward others rather than pride or self-righteousness.

As followers of Christ, we are called to shine His light into the world. Through acts of kindness, forgiveness, humility, and love, we reflect the character of Jesus and point others toward Him. The goal is not to draw attention to ourselves but to honor the One who gave us life.

Today, remember the proper order: Jesus is Lord, Savior, and Judge. Our role is to trust Him, follow Him, love others, and reflect His light. When Christ remains at the center, our hearts stay humble, our paths remain clear, and our lives become a testimony to His grace.
