Transformed

Transformed

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 6:11 (NIV)

One of the greatest transformations that occurs in the life of a believer is a change in identity. Before coming to Christ, people often define themselves by their past, their failures, their achievements, or the expectations of the world. Through faith in Jesus, however, believers receive a new identity. They are no longer defined by sin but by their relationship with Christ.

This new identity requires a new way of thinking. The world teaches people to protect themselves, pursue their own interests, and place self at the center of life. Jesus teaches a different way. He calls His followers to surrender their lives to Him, trust His leadership, and place God's will above their own desires. This is not a loss of life but the discovery of true life as God intended it to be.

Being "dead to sin and alive to God" does not mean believers never struggle with temptation or weakness. Rather, it means that sin no longer has ultimate authority over them. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians are given the ability to resist sinful desires and grow in Christlike character. The Spirit helps believers replace bitterness with forgiveness, pride with humility, and selfishness with love.

Jesus demonstrated this life perfectly. He lived in complete obedience to the Father and willingly gave His life for the salvation of humanity. Through His death and resurrection, He opened the way for believers to receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

The Christian life is a daily process of embracing this new identity. Each day presents opportunities to choose faith over fear, love over resentment, and obedience over self-will. As believers walk with Christ, they increasingly reflect His character and experience the freedom that comes from living according to God's design.

Today, remember who you are in Christ. You are loved, forgiven, redeemed, and made new. Allow your identity to be shaped by God's truth rather than by past failures or worldly expectations. Through the Holy Spirit, you have been made alive to God.
