Working For God

Working For God

When you receive the call through The Holy Spirit to begin God's work of kingdom building, it can be difficult in the beginning. It means that you are leaving the commonplace work of the world behind to embark on a new kind of service. One of the major challenges that you face when building a ministry / mission based life is the absence of a known traditional paycheck. This is both scary and faith building.

Jesus says, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

He says this literally not figuratively. Which means that when you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus himself has called you into his work, you must go about his work in pure faith that he also has your financial future in his control. This is not always easy in the face of bills and family demands. So it requires uncommon faith that he will work it out for you as long as you are working in full effort for him.

Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38

Jesus is the Lord of the harvest and it is he who calls the willing into his service. The willing are those that choose to walk away from the typical type of predictable income earning work to go after lost souls and those in need. To the Lord, it is the most important type of work as it is eternal. Our job, as servants of Christ, is not to worry about where our provision will come, but focus on the people he places in our path. His provision will be provided right on time as long as we don't shrink from the task for which we are called.

"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
